Free text tools
The character counters, text analysis and formatting tools process entered text in your browser. You do not need an account to use them. Text is not automatically uploaded when you type, paste, import or analyze it.
Optional accounts and private workspaces
If you create an account, Character Countly stores your name, email address, a password hash, account verification records and authenticated sessions to provide sign-in and password recovery. When you choose “Save to my workspace” or “Save draft”, your text is sent to our server and stored in your private account database. Collections, favorite tool links and writing preferences are also stored if you use those features. This information is not public.
You control when draft text is saved. You can edit and delete individual drafts, remove favorites and delete collections in your account workspace. Removing a collection does not delete drafts from that collection. Do not store sensitive or confidential information without assessing your own requirements.
Temporary local drafts
If you explicitly choose to save text while signed out, your browser may temporarily keep that text in session storage while you sign in. It is not uploaded until you confirm “Save draft” in your account. Temporary browser data can be lost when the session or tab closes.
Email verification and recovery
Account verification and password-reset emails are sent through Brevo using our configured sender address. Brevo processes the recipient email address and message needed for delivery. Password-reset links should be treated as confidential.
Local files and downloads
Supported plain-text and Markdown imports are read locally in your browser. Downloads create files on your device; they are not uploaded unless you explicitly use a cloud-save action.
Hosting and technical data
Our Hostinger hosting infrastructure processes stored account data and standard connection details such as IP addresses, request times, and browser information. Authentication services may use IP addresses and user-agent details to protect sessions and limit abuse.
Your data and future changes
Signed-in users can permanently delete their account and saved workspace data through the Preferences page after confirming their password. Deletion removes associated account records and saved drafts, collections, favorites and preferences from the live database, but routine hosting backups or delivery logs may retain information for a limited period. A full account-data export feature and detailed retention terms will be finalized before public registration opens. Avoid placing private or confidential text in an online account unless its storage terms meet your needs.
